Welcome to First Grade!  This will be my sixth year teaching First Grade (11th year teaching at CLES). First grade is a big step for children.  It’s the first full day-- with lunch in the cafeteria, a full load of academic subjects and homework Monday through Thursday. Our math series presents math in a problem-solving approach, and our language arts program has a strong base in phonics, guided reading and writing. 
 
Every day your child will bring home his/her Dolphin Folder. Our sticker behavior chart is on the left side of this folder.  Please leave it taped to the folder so I may note daily behavior on it.  Ten stickers allows them to go to the Treasure Box.  Be sure to check your child's folder each night for their daily work AND any papers from the school or me.
 
Each student will also have a "caught being good" card.  Twenty stars gets them a special treat!

Open House for First Grade will be Tuesday, August 29 @ 7:00 p.m.    We go over in detail our objectives and policies that evening and answer any questions you might have.  We hope that you will be able to attend!!!
