Welcome
Hello everyone! Welcome to room 223! It's hard to believe that our last nine week grading period is already upon us. I will relish the time that I have remaining with the students in my class. These children are the best and I love them all! Our third nine weeks was very successful. Our class had many students earn honor roll. I am thrilled to share the exciting news! The honor roll students are listed below to the left, as well as the students with perfect attendance. I am so proud of all of my students as each one has given third grade their best and I can't ask for more than that! Our class is fabulous!
Mrs. Sloop and I team teach together. I teach the language arts section of the curriculum, which includes reading, writing, and word study. Mrs. Sloop teaches the math, science, and social studies portion of the curriculum. I look forward to working with each of you this school year. Together, we will make a tremendous contribution to your child's education.
Important Reminders:
1) Please practice for the SOL's using the websites I have provided for you. Should you need another copy, please do not hesitate to ask.
2) Check your child's homework agenda daily for assignments. Once you have seen your child's completed homework, please initial at the bottom of the planner daily. Please check the parent pocket of your child's binder daily for important updates and announcements. Please keep story packets in the lanugage arts pocket until we finish that particular unit. These story packets are a good review prior to a theme test.
3) Graded assignment and behavioral reports are sent home every Friday in the Dolphin Folder. Please review these papers with your child and keep them. Should you notice an area of weakness, please review those skills with your child. Please contact me should you need assistance on how to help your child in these areas. Please sign and return the behavioral report in the Dolphin Folder every Monday.

Language Arts Routines
Our class will begin a new story every week. Each week your child will be tested on spelling, vocabulary, comprehension, and the skill of the week. You may study for these tests by reviewing and practicing the assignments completed during class time, studying spelling and vocabulary lists, sorting cards sent home, and by reviewing the skills assigned for homework. At the end of each unit, there will be a theme skills tests covering all of these weekly skills. Thanks again for your continued support.
