Border Terriers are a versatile breed which are equaily at home as a working terrier, show dog, performance dog, or house pet. Because they don't require a lot of space they are ideal house dogs. They are devoted pals, enjoy the company of children and other dogs and are game for anything.

The Border Terrier has a harsh wiry outer coat. A good pet needs a little brushing to appear neat. On grooming the long hairs of the body needs to be plucked or stripped 2-3 times per year. Other wise the coat needs little maintenance.

The Border Terriers are sturdy little dogs. They are a no frills working breed. Bred to hunt  fox, coon and other small vermin. They have strong jaws and have been known to be very jealous and hold grudges aganst other dogs

Males & females usally weigh 13 to 15 pounds while the standard does not specify height males usually measure 14" and females 12" Borders are healthy and strong, overall. They usually love to travel in the car, need sufficient  exercise, and like to stay busy.

Occasional health problemes found in Borders are weight gain, congenital heart problems are possible and dysplasa, & undescended testicles. These defects have not become widespred in the breed because of carful selective breeding by BT breeders
