Deciding to enter psychotherapy can be a difficult decision for many. In fact, most people think about going for professional help for months or longer before they make their first appointment.
How does psychotherapy work?
Successful therapy has two major components. The first involves the relationship between the therapist and the client. For therapy to be effective it is imperative that this relationship be built on trust and mutual respect.
The second component involves the therapist and client, together, addressing the issues, thoughts, and behavior patterns that are causing the client distress or preventing the client from reaching his/her potential.
How do I know which therapist to go to?
